The grand finale of the CYANOMETA project's series of workshops took place at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. This event brought together coordinators from all partner universities to showcase their innovative research and findings to an enthusiastic audience of students and researchers from across Serbia.

The morning kicked off with an enlightening presentation by Dr. hab. Dariusz Dziga from Jagiellonian University, Poland, who captivated the audience with insights into the biotechnological potential of cyanobacteria. The session was followed by Illés Bock, PhD student, and Dr. Zoran Marinović from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. They showcased an exciting demonstration of an automated zebrafish embryo phenotyping system, used to test the toxic effects of cyanobacterial extracts—a technique that could revolutionize toxicology studies.

The afternoon sessions delved into advanced toxicological methods and analytical chemistry. Dr. Pavel Babica from RECETOX, Masaryk University, Czechia, shared pioneering research on using gap junctional communication as a functional biomarker in toxicology. This was complemented by Mgr. Andrea Pogányová, PhD from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia, who demonstrated state-of-the-art extraction techniques for secondary metabolites from cyanobacteria using sensitive analytical instruments.

The day concluded with an engaging presentation by Dr. Nada Tokodi from the University of Novi Sad, highlighting collaborative research efforts with the University of Kragujevac and the University of Niš. Additionally, the whole CYANOMETA project journey was presented to the audience.

The event was finalized with the short presentation of the representatives from the Faculty of Sciences and with a lively discussion on the ongoing research findings, followed by a summary of the entire CYANOMETA project.
